the past is a funny thing. it can bring you great joy, incurable sorrow, arcane wisdom, or obtuse regret. memories are some of the best things we as humans can have. i often wonder if dogs or cats have memories of that time you played in the back yard for several minutes, or when they peed on the carpet. or are they just eventually domesticated into knowing where their bathroom privileges are to be exercised? we too as humans have instincts similar to animals. we do things even when we aren't sure of the reason. we may know these things are wrong, even if our knowledge of this is hindsight. habits can be both a gift and a curse. more often then not, things that are considered bad or unhealthy are simply passed off as "bad habits." but do we have it in us to step back and realize this so called bad happen is something more? some bad habits really are just that. but where do we pick these things up? biting our nails, cracking our joints, sucking your thumb as a child. i for one don't remember the first time i started cracking my joints.
i was cigarette free for the first time in months today. although i can't completely congratulate myself on this achievement, because i am using a crutch to win the battle against virginia deathsticks, it was gratifying. there is a certain satisfaction in breaking a habit. sometimes the smallest victories have the most lasting effects.
short one tonight. thank jeebus
congrats on the no cigarette today, hopefully the days will become easier to do without one.
